Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declined to disclose the terms of the peace deal recently reached with suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Speaking during a media chat at his Abuja residence on Thursday, Wike stated that the details of the agreement would remain private, stressing that what mattered most was the return of peace to the state.

“I will allow you to speculate, it’s not my business. All I know is that peace has come. If you are not satisfied with that, there is nothing we can do. What is important is that peace has returned. Whatever anybody says is not my business,” Wike said.

He emphasized that he was more comfortable letting people draw their own conclusions about the deal, rather than going public with its content.

The development follows a peace meeting convened by President Bola Tinubu last month, which brought together Wike, Fubara, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly in a bid to resolve the prolonged political crisis in the state.

In March 2025, President Tinubu had suspended Governor Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and several lawmakers amid escalating tensions in the oil-rich state.

While the peace talks marked a step toward reconciliation, Wike’s silence on the specifics has left many Nigerians curious about what was truly agreed upon behind closed doors.
