Wike Declares Readiness to Lead Tinubu’s 2027 Presidential Campaign

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has affirmed his commitment to leading President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking to journalists on Monday in Abuja, Wike strongly indicated his willingness to spearhead the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign both in his home state of Rivers and in the FCT.
When asked directly if he would lead the APC’s 2027 campaign, Wike responded:
“I’ve said this before. Is it because I’m part of Asiwaju’s government that you’re asking? Are you not aware I led his campaign in Rivers State? You expect me to deny it?”
He also addressed concerns about Tinubu’s performance in the FCT during the last election.
“Are you not aware he didn’t even get 10 percent here in the FCT? But he will win here next time. Stop asking questions you already know the answers to. This is not hidden.”
Wike reaffirmed his stance on power rotation, stating:
“I have always said the South must produce the president.”
His remarks further solidify his alignment with Tinubu’s political ambitions and signal a significant role for Wike in the APC’s 2027 campaign strategy.
