Whisper to Humanity Champions Inclusive Learning In Ebonyi

Whisper to Humanity 3-day Transformative Education Training in Ebonyi on Saturday focused on storytelling techniques, urging participants to leverage creativity for inclusive learning.
The Executive Director, Mary Jacob Okwuosa stressed the critical role of storytelling in education, fostering emotional connections, and simplifying complex issues.
The Transformative Education training “Empowering Educators and Learners for Transformative Education,” which started on Thursday in Abakaliki had Over 40 educators and students from various secondary schools across Ebonyi State participating in the training, which focused on inclusive learning environments, transformative education, social justice, and empathy.
The Executive Director reviewed effective storytelling methods utilized within the training, encouraging participants to recognize their organic application.
“To connect a story to people, you should open a story with a line, dialogue, or ask that connects others to the story.”
“The way you are going to open a story when you go back to your school will not be the same way somebody in other schools will open their own.” – She reiterated.
At the ongoing 3-day Transformative Education Training, teachers and students showcased their vision for a co-created school space that prioritizes inclusivity, innovation, and student-centered learning.
The participants were divided into four groups that had the following proposed schools, Flora Secondary School, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Ajana International Secondary Schools, Langa Langa, Whisper To Humanity International Academy Konga State and Malala International Secondary School, Tai Tora.
Group Presentation
The participants were asked to describe their ideal school space, addressing key questions:
1. What features would it have?
2. How would it promote inclusive learning?
3. What innovative practices would it incorporate?
4. What curriculum changes would it have?
5. Why should anyone want to come to your school?
Group Vision
The group’s presentations showcased a shared commitment to creating an inclusive and empowering environment. Key features in the various co-created school spaces included
– Registered and verifiable means of identification
– Inclusive infrastructure with a recreational center and state-of-the-art school clinic
– Collaborative learning areas
– Mental health support services
– Sustainable and eco-friendly design

Innovative Practices and Curriculum Changes
The groups proposed innovative practices such as:
– Inclusive skill acquisition centre in school
– Project-based and personalized learning
– Cultural representation
– Technology integration
– Community partnerships and mentorship
Curriculum changes
The groups proposed curriculum changes such as
-collaborative learning
– Incorporating social-emotional learning
– Cultural competence and diversity education
– Environmental sustainability and awareness
– Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
– Real-world application and project-based assessments
A Call to Action
The group’s presentations showed creativity, critical thinking, and a commitment to transformative education and inclusive learning space.
As one of the groups emphasized, “Our school should be a safe space where everyone feels valued, and heard.”
The event was attended by stakeholders in the Education Sector, the media, Teachers and students across the three senatorial zone in Ebonyi State
