Whisper To Humanity Calls For Education Reform in Ebonyi

Whisper To Humanity, a youth-led feminist and non-profit organization, has called on students, teachers, management, and media practitioners in Ebonyi State to join hands in improving and enhancing the quality of education in the state.
The call was made during the One Day Roundtable Discussion On Empowering Educators and Young Learners For A Transformative Education held in Abakaliki on Friday in commemoration of International Day of Education.
The Executive Director, Whisper To Humanity, Mary Jacob Okwuosa, expressed her satisfaction with the implementation of previous workshop learnings by students, teachers, and school management.
Okwuosa promised to continue efforts to advance Ebonyi State’s educational sector.
The Ebonyi State Ministry of Education also made some significant announcements during the event.
The commissioner for Education, represented by the Director of Schools in Ebonyi State, Mrs. Chinyere Eziulo noted that plans are underway to recruit 1,000 teachers and rebuild 39 schools with 22 classrooms across the 13 local government areas of the state.
The ministry also announced the organization of a football tournament, with the finals scheduled for January 30, 2025, where winners and participants will be rewarded.
Additionally, the ministry promised to maintain good teaching relationships and ensure fast payment of salaries henceforth.
Other stakeholders, including Mrs. Pamela Ajachukwu, Principal of Onicha Model Secondary Technical School, and Mr. Ogbonna Nwachi, Principal of Government Secondary School Afikpo, emphasized the importance of moral teachings, timely teacher payments, and alumni support for school projects.
Students present at the program expressed gratitude to Whisper To Humanity for providing opportunities for growth and development.
The event was attended by various stakeholders in the education sector, including students, teachers, government officials, and representatives of the media.
