We Must Maintain High Sense Of Discipline – Salmwang Tells Lagos Officials

Ahead of the 2025 batch “A” Stream I Orientation Course, commencing next week, State Coordinator NYSC Lagos, Mrs Christiana Salmwang has told officials of collaborating agencies and NYSC principal officials to maintain a high sense of discipline during the Orientation Course.
Mrs Salmwang who said this during a meeting with the officials today, said the scheme cannot compromise on discipline and as such, discipline must begin from the officials before its administration on corps members.
She said while discharging discipline on corps members who they lead, they must do so in love.
Applauding the officials for their excellent delivery during the last Orientation Course, Mrs Salmwang said she is proud of the officials of the State for their attitude to work. She insisted that the standard of work must be maintained. She called on them to work as a team during the course and put in a shift whenever there is a need or lack in any schedule.
Speaking on the issue of hygiene, she called on the officials to instill good hygiene in corps members and encourage regular hand-washing. She enjoined the officials to ensure that no sick corps member or unfit corps member is allowed to stay in camp as camp activities are rigorous.
On the issue of officials-corps members relationship, she admonished them receive them nicely and behave kindly with them. She urged them to ensure their attitude towards the corps members gives them the assurance that they are in safe hands. She encouraged them to avoid the use of foul languages when relating with the corps members.
Concerning the general health of corps members, she said priority will be given to sensitization of corps members on breast, cervical and postrate cancers to allow for self care and early detection and timely treatment.
Also speaking during the meeting, Camp Director for the course, Mrs Beatrice Fayinto has called on the officials not to see the course as belonging to the management but to all and as such, all must see that it turns out successful. She encouraged them to work as a team.
On the corps members, she urged the officials to affect their lives positively, creating a memorable impression in them.
She also hinted that officials must ensure the corps members see themselves as the image maker of the country and must come out of the course better persons, who are aware of their conducts and actions.
Meanwhile, the Camp Commandant for the course, Captain DK Wandate has said the camp programme is a familiar terrain and the officials too are familiar people. He called on all officials to lend cooperating hands to the course so that success can be achieved.
In another development, while addressing members of staff in a general meeting today, the State Coordinator called on them to be united and to embrace teamwork during the upcoming orientation course. She emphasized the need for all officials to work together in synergy and love for the success of the orientation course.
She also urged them to be time-conscious, keep to time in all camp activities, and make discipline their watchword.
She enjoined officials to receive corps members warmly and speak to them with love, while maintaining professionalism and avoiding over-familiarization. She stressed the importance of observing corps members closely in order to promptly identify anyone who may be medically, mentally, or psychologically unwell, so that the management can provide timely support, as their well-being is of utmost importance.
The State Coordinator further charged all officials to brace up and diligently carry out their assigned responsibilities to ensure a successful orientation programme.
On her part, the Camp Director for the 2025 Batch A Stream 1 Orientation Programme, Mrs. Fayinto Beatrice, thanked all officials in advance and prayed for a smooth and successful exercise while she also stressed on the importance of team work to achieve success at the orientation camp
