“We Do Not Mourn Tyrants, We Remember Their Victims” — Sowore Slams Late President Buhari

Activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has reacted harshly to the death of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on July 13 at a clinic in London.
In a strongly worded statement shared on his social media platforms, Sowore condemned calls to mourn the former leader, accusing Buhari of authoritarianism and gross human rights violations during his time in office.
“Muhammadu Buhari slaughtered hundreds of Shiites — men, women, even children,” Sowore wrote. “He ordered soldiers to open fire on peaceful #EndSARS protesters waving the Nigerian flag. He ‘disappeared’ Dadiyata. He ordered the massacre of young Southeasterners branded IPOB. He disobeyed court orders, jailed critics, destroyed the economy, and ruined everything he touched.”
Refusing to offer condolences, Sowore added, “And now, because he’s dead, some people with selective memory want us to mourn or worship him? Shameful. NO — we do not mourn tyrants. We remember their victims. Muhammadu Buhari had no soul.”
The post has since stirred heated reactions online, with many praising Sowore’s bold stance while others condemned the timing of his remarks.
