The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has temporarily withdrawn the 2025 WASSCE results for school candidates following the discovery of technical issues during the release process.

In a statement released on Thursday, August 7, 2025, by the Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina, WAEC explained that an internal review uncovered glitches linked to a new paper serialization system introduced to curb examination malpractice.

“As part of our efforts to curb examination malpractice, the Council embarked on an innovation already deployed by a national examination body. The paper serialization was carried out in Mathematics, English Language, Biology and Economics. However, an internal post result release procedure revealed some technical bugs in the results,” the statement read.

The Council said it has deactivated the result checker portal to allow for the correction of the identified errors. It described the decision as a step in line with its commitment to fairness, professionalism, and best practices.

“We extend our deep and sincere apologies to all affected candidates and the general public. We appreciate their patience and understanding as we work diligently to resolve this matter with transparency and urgency within the next twenty four hours.”
