Veekee James Opens Up About Trolls Accusing Her of Snatching Husband and Her Struggle With Depression

Fashion entrepreneur Veekee James has opened up about the emotional turmoil she faced after her wedding in October 2023, when online trolls falsely accused her of “snatching” her husband, Femi Atere, from a friend.

The false claims, including allegations of an intimate relationship before marriage, took a heavy toll on Veekee’s mental health, nearly pushing her into depression. She recounted spending days crying and isolating herself, feeling overwhelmed by the lies.

Veekee turned to her faith for strength and guidance, crediting divine intervention for her recovery, which she described as a “miracle.” Since then, she says she has become more resilient, learning to ignore negative comments and focus on her well-being. She also hopes to raise children who will be role models.

“There was one story that really shook me,” Veekee said. “It was about how I stole him from a friend and that we were sleeping together. So many of them are lies. It almost put me in depression. For the first time, I understood what people who face depression feel.

“I remember going into my room and not coming out for two days. I was crying and praying, and I told God, if these stories are lies, help us get through this without it ruining my brand. Waiting on God for days, the way He brought me out was like a miracle.

“I’ve learned to brush off negativity. I don’t plan to make videos hiding my kids; I want to raise children who will be role models in society.”
