VC Inaugurates Two New Residential Flats Built by AE-FUNAI Parents’ Forum

The Vice-Chancellor of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi State, Professor Sunday Elom, on Friday, July 24, 2025, formally commissioned two newly completed residential flats built by the AE-FUNAI Parents’ Forum to support the welfare of the university’s staff.

The event, held at the staff quarters within the university’s campus, highlights the institution’s unwavering commitment to improving housing facilities for its academic and non-academic staff.

During the commissioning ceremony, Prof. Elom, who was represented by the Dean of Biological Sciences, Professor Celestine Afiaukwa, commended the Parents’ Forum for delivering a project that meets high construction standards. He emphasized that quality housing is a key factor in fostering a conducive academic environment, stating that such efforts go beyond mere convenience—they are vital to attracting and retaining high-caliber academics.

The Vice-Chancellor noted that providing quality accommodation for staff directly contributes to the university’s overarching goals of academic excellence and community engagement.

In his address, the Chairman of the Parents’ Forum, Engr. Chidi Onwe Ogah, expressed gratitude for the collaboration that led to the successful completion of the project. He highlighted the ongoing infrastructural growth at AE-FUNAI and underscored the importance of expanding the university’s residential facilities to accommodate its growing number of staff and students.
