Users React as ChatGPT Goes Offline

Thousands of users worldwide faced disruptions as ChatGPT, the popular AI-powered chatbot, went offline, rendering it inaccessible and sparking frustration among its vast user base.
Reports of the service outage began surfacing on Thursday morning, leaving many unable to access the conversational AI tool.
Downdetector, a website that tracks online service disruptions, reported a sharp increase in user-submitted outage reports, which surpassed 1,000 at the time of publication.

The cause of the disruption remains unclear. Possible factors could include server overload, technical glitches, or scheduled maintenance. OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has yet to issue an official statement regarding the outage.
The outage is expected to affect a broad spectrum of users, including students, researchers, professionals, and creatives who rely on ChatGPT for tasks such as content generation, programming assistance, and brainstorming.
Frustrated users took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their concerns and share their experiences.
One user tweeted, “ChatGPT is down. Not sure what to do now…”—a statement that shows the level of reliance on the platform.
Another user humorously said, “ChatGPT is down, and I’m starting to think the robots are staging a coup.”
A third user commented, “Every developer coming on X because ChatGPT is down,” showing the dependence of tech professionals on it.
