US Tech CEO Andy Byron Resigns After Viral Coldplay Concert Video Sparks Affair Rumors

Andy Byron, CEO of New York-based tech firm Astronomer, has resigned following the fallout from a viral video taken at a Coldplay concert that triggered speculation about a possible workplace affair.
The footage, filmed at a show in Foxborough, Massachusetts, showed a man and woman embracing in the crowd. Their surprised expressions when they appeared on the jumbotron sparked laughter—especially after Coldplay frontman Chris Martin quipped, “Uh-oh, what? Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
Internet sleuths quickly identified the pair as Byron and Kristin Cabot, Astronomer’s Chief People Officer. The video, which has since gone viral across TikTok and other platforms, ignited a wave of memes and jokes—many highlighting the irony of a senior HR executive potentially being involved in an inappropriate office relationship.
In a statement posted to LinkedIn, Astronomer confirmed Byron’s resignation:
“Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.”
The company previously disclosed that it had launched an internal investigation into the matter.
Adding to the online frenzy, a fake apology message purportedly from Byron also circulated widely before being exposed as the work of a parody account.
Neither Byron nor Cabot has publicly responded to the controversy.
