US military strikes target ISIS terrorists in Somalia – Trump

US President Donald Trump announced that the US military conducted airstrikes in Somalia against members of the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist group.
While he did not specify the names or number of casualties, Trump stated that the airstrikes targeted a senior ISIS attack planner and other militants he had recruited and led.
In a social media post, Trump explained, “This morning I ordered precision military airstrikes on the Senior ISIS attack planner and other terrorists he recruited and led in Somalia… These killers, who we found hiding in caves, threatened the United States and our allies.”
The president further emphasized that the strikes had successfully killed many terrorists while avoiding civilian casualties. However, no further details were provided, other than mentioning that the military had been tracking the individual, referred to as an “ISIS attack planner,” for several years.
According to CNN, these airstrikes mark the first military action that Trump has ordered during his second term in office.
The White House has not made any official comments beyond the president’s social media post, with a White House official stating that the Department of Defense would release more information when appropriate.
