The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has inaugurated the Accommodation and Transportation Committee for the forthcoming 2026 National Convention of the All Progressives Congress.
The inauguration ceremony was held on Tuesday in Abuja, where members of the committee were formally tasked with coordinating critical logistics for the national convention expected to attract party leaders, delegates, and special guests from across the country.
According to a statement issued by the minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Francis Nwaze, the committee will oversee the planning and coordination of transportation and accommodation arrangements for participants attending the convention.
Umahi will chair the transportation component of the committee, while the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, will lead the accommodation arm. Both arms are expected to work in close collaboration to ensure smooth movement and proper lodging for attendees.
The committee’s mandate includes transportation logistics and movement planning, accommodation coordination, hotel engagement and room allocation, as well as operational monitoring throughout the duration of the convention.
Speaking during the inauguration, Umahi stressed that effective transportation and accommodation arrangements are crucial to the success of a major political event such as the APC National Convention.
He said proper coordination of transportation between airports, hotels and the convention venue would ensure a seamless event, noting that poor logistics could disrupt even the most carefully planned gathering.
The minister expressed confidence in the committee members, stating that their experience and commitment would help deliver a well-organised and successful national convention for the ruling party.
He formally inaugurated the committee and urged members to work collaboratively to ensure that all logistical arrangements are professionally handled ahead of the convention.
