Tyler Perry Sued For $260 Million Over Sexual Assault Allegations By Actor Derek Dixon

Prominent filmmaker Tyler Perry has been hit with a $260 million lawsuit by actor Derek Dixon, who accuses him of sexual harassment, assault, and professional retaliation. Dixon, who appeared in Perry’s BET series The Oval and Ruthless, filed the suit in Los Angeles on June 13, 2025.
According to court documents, Dixon claims that Perry made repeated unwanted sexual advances beginning in January 2020. He alleges that during a visit to Perry’s home in Georgia, the producer attempted to initiate sexual contact. Further incidents allegedly occurred during a cast trip to the Bahamas in October 2020 and a meeting in June 2021, where Dixon says he was groped.
The lawsuit also accuses Perry of sending explicit messages and offering professional benefits in exchange for sexual favors. Dixon alleges that he was pressured to comply with these advances under threats that his character in The Oval could be written off if he refused.
“This case is about abuse of power,” the lawsuit reads, claiming that Dixon suffered severe emotional and physical distress. He says the harassment led to anxiety, insomnia, PTSD, and a reliance on medication. Dixon also states he lost nearly $400,000 in earnings after being forced to leave the show in its final season due to the alleged misconduct.
Tyler Perry has denied all the allegations. His attorney, Matthew Boyd, described the claims as “comProminent filmmaker be shaken down” and is prepared to vigorously defend his reputation.
The case has sparked widespread media attention due to Perry’s high profile and the gravity of the accusations. No criminal charges have been filed, and the lawsuit is currently awaiting further legal proceedings.
