Two tipper trucks were involved in a collision in the early hours of Friday at Onu Ogboji Junction in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, causing temporary disruption to traffic but no loss of life.

Kingsman Media Services, which reported the incident, said the accident occurred as both trucks approached the busy junction from different directions. The impact resulted in significant damage to the vehicles, prompting a brief obstruction along the roadway.

Eyewitnesses told reporters that the trucks collided while navigating the junction, an area known for heavy movement of commercial and articulated vehicles. Despite the severity of the crash, no fatalities were recorded.

“Glory be to God, no life was lost,” an eyewitness said, noting that the drivers involved sustained no life-threatening injuries. No pedestrians were affected by the incident.

Relevant authorities and community members reportedly arrived at the scene shortly after the crash to manage traffic, secure the area, and restore normal movement along the road.

The incident has once again drawn attention to road safety concerns at major junctions within Ikwo Local Government Area. Residents say Onu Ogboji Junction experiences frequent traffic congestion due to the high volume of heavy-duty vehicles passing through the axis daily.

Road safety advocates have repeatedly called for stricter adherence to speed limits, improved driver discipline, and enhanced traffic control measures at such locations to reduce the risk of accidents.

Kingsman Media Services urged drivers, particularly operators of heavy-duty vehicles, to exercise caution at junctions, observe traffic rules, and ensure regular vehicle maintenance. The media organisation also called on relevant authorities to intensify sensitisation programmes and consider additional safety interventions at major road intersections across the local government area.
