Two Arrested for Allegedly Stealing Generator Battery from Yola Church

Police in Adamawa State have arrested two young men over the alleged theft of a generator battery belonging to a church in Yola, the state capital.
The suspects, identified as 20-year-old Dad Yusuf and 17-year-old Gibson Husseini, both residents of Upper Luggere in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area, were apprehended by operatives of the State Intelligence Department.
According to a statement issued Sunday evening by the Police Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Nguroje, the pair was arrested on Saturday, June 28, 2025. They reportedly confessed to stealing a 100Ah Mikano generator battery from the LCCN Cathedral in Jimeta during the night of June 23.
Nguroje added that investigations are ongoing to track down other possible accomplices and recover additional stolen property.
“The suspects will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded,” the statement said.
