Trump to Ban LGBTQ+ in the United States

US President Donald Trump has announced a new policy recognizing only two genders; male and female.
He made this declaration during his inauguration speech on January 20, 2025, in Washington, D.C.
Trump stated that his administration would end government policies promoting gender diversity. He emphasized that official documents will now reflect only male or female, eliminating other gender or neutral options.
According to Trump, the move aims to end what he described as ‘social engineering’ efforts related to gender and race. He vowed to restore traditional gender definitions across public and private sectors.
A White House official clarified that government-issued identification, including passports, will no longer feature a third-gender option, typically marked by an “X.” This policy change will affect all federal agencies.
The new executive order will also impact facilities such as prisons and shelters. These institutions will now segregate individuals based on their biological sex rather than the gender they identify themselves as.
Trump’s administration argues that the previous policies infringed on free speech and religious beliefs. They believe the changes align with constitutional rights and long-standing cultural values.
In addition, Trump pledged to review diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives across government agencies. He hinted at cutting federal funding for programs that promote gender inclusivity.
The White House confirmed that monthly assessments will be conducted to identify and potentially eliminate DEI programs. The administration insists that these measures will enhance fairness and efficiency.
Critics, however, argue that the new policy discriminates against LGBTQ+ individuals. Advocacy groups have expressed concern over the potential impact on transgender and non-binary communities.
