Trump Reiterates Wish to Move Gazans to Egypt, Jordan

Former President Donald Trump has reiterated his proposal to relocate Palestinians from Gaza to “safer” regions such as Egypt or Jordan. He also mentioned plans to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington “soon.”
Speaking on Air Force One, Trump commented that he hoped to help Palestinians “live in an area where they can live without disruption, revolution, and violence.” He acknowledged the ongoing violence in Gaza, describing it as “hell” for many years.
Trump’s remarks followed his suggestion on Saturday to “clean out” Gaza, which has been devastated by over 15 months of conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Regarding the future of a two-state solution, Trump stated he would discuss it with Netanyahu in the near future.
As a result of the war that began with Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, nearly all of Gaza’s 2.4 million residents have been displaced. A ceasefire is currently in place, allowing for the release of 33 hostages in exchange for around 1,900 Palestinian prisoners.
The ceasefire is expected to last for six weeks, after which the terms of the second phase will be negotiated to free the remaining hostages and end the war. The final phase will focus on Gaza’s reconstruction and the return of the bodies of those hostages who died in captivity.
Trump has not mentioned any of the post-war plans developed by the Biden administration.
