Troops Neutralize Terrorists In Borno, Recovers IEDs, Weapons

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recorded major operational successes with the recovery of about 60 heavily primed Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), assorted weapons, and the killing of several terrorists in renewed offensives across Borno State.
In a statement, the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Headquarters Theatre Command, Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Reuben Kovangiya, disclosed that on July 3, 2025, troops conducting clearance operations around the Marte–Dikwa axis discovered a large cache of IEDs at a bridge connecting both towns.
The explosives were believed to have been stashed by terrorists to carry out large-scale attacks and destroy key infrastructure. The recovery is considered a major step in averting potential disaster in the area.
In a related development, troops on a coordinated fighting patrol in Fulatari, Gubio Local Government Area, apprehended a terrorist and recovered an AK-47 rifle with a magazine and a large quantity of ammunition.
Elsewhere, a combat team operating around Mussini in Ngala Local Government Area engaged terrorists in a gun battle. The terrorists, overwhelmed by the troops’ firepower, fled in disarray. Items recovered during the pursuit include AK-47 rifles, jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), motorcycles, terrorists’ uniforms, and other logistics materials.
Similarly, in the Salekwa area of Mafa Local Government Area, troops neutralized some terrorists during an encounter, with others fleeing the scene. During a sweep of the area, troops recovered additional AK-47 rifles, magazines, and the corpse of a killed terrorist.
The Military High Command has commended the troops for their courage and professionalism. Troops continue to sustain the tempo of operations with strong morale, supported by close air support from the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI and in synergy with other security agencies and stakeholders.
