Tinubu orders probe into killing of travelers in Edo

President Bola Tinubu has condemned the murder of travellers intercepted by local vigilante in the Uromi community of Esan North Local Government of Edo State.
The President, who expressed shock at the heinous act on Thursday, directed Police and other security agencies to conduct thorough investigations and arrest the suspected culprits.
In a statement, President Tinubu commiserates with the families of the affected victims and assured them that criminals would not be allowed to shed the blood of innocent Nigerians in vain.
The President also noted that jungle justice has no place in Nigeria, and that all Nigerians have the freedom to move freely in any part of the country.
Similarly, Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo has condemned the killing, and ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident. During a visit to the community on Friday, Okpebholo described the act as “barbaric” and direct the Edo State Police Command and other security agencies to conduct a comprehensive investigation and ensure those found culpable face justice.
In a statement by the Spokesperson to the Governor, Fred Itua, the governor urged community members to cooperate with security operatives to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
“There is no justification for vigilante members to take the law into their own hands instead of involving statutory law enforcement agencies,” the statement read.
