Tinubu Not Invited As Trump Set To Host Select African Leaders At White House

President Bola Tinubu has not been invited to the White House for upcoming talks on commercial opportunities with the United States.
According to Reuters, the U.S. President Donald Trump is scheduled to host leaders from Senegal, Mauritania, Liberia, Guinea-Bissau, and Gabon on July 9 for a discussion and lunch focused on trade and investment.
A White House official stated, “President Trump believes that African countries offer incredible commercial opportunities which benefit both the American people and our African partners.”
Despite Trump’s renewed interest in economic partnerships, his administration had previously slashed large portions of U.S. foreign aid to Africa as part of efforts to reduce what it deemed excessive and misaligned spending under the “America First” agenda.
The U.S. government maintains that its current focus is on driving mutual prosperity through trade and investment, rather than traditional aid.
