Tinubu Hosts WTO Chief Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala At Aso Villa Ahead Of Second Term

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday hosted World Trade Organisation (WTO) Director-General Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala at the Aso Villa in Abuja for a closed-door meeting focused on trade issues of national, continental, and global importance.

The visit comes just two weeks before Okonjo-Iweala’s first term as WTO chief ends on August 31, 2025, and ahead of the start of her second term on September 1.

Okonjo-Iweala, a renowned development economist and global finance expert, made history in 2021 as the first African and first woman to lead the 164-member WTO.

Tinubu had earlier voiced confidence that her continued leadership would further position the WTO as a key driver of inclusive global economic growth and good governance over the next four years.
