Tinubu Holds Private Meeting With Fubara in Lagos Amid Rivers Political Crisis

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday held a private meeting with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara at his Bourdillon residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The unannounced meeting comes amid ongoing efforts to resolve the deepening political crisis in Rivers State and has triggered fresh speculation among political stakeholders.
Although no official statement has been released by the presidency or Fubara’s camp, the discreet nature of the talks has raised questions about possible resolutions being considered behind closed doors.

Governor Fubara has been at the center of a prolonged political feud with his predecessor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, since assuming office in 2023. The fierce power tussle led to the federal government declaring a state of emergency in Rivers on May 18, 2025.
While details of the Lagos meeting remain undisclosed, it signals that critical political realignments or compromises could be underway to address the instability in the state.
