Tinubu Hails Super Falcons After 2–1 Win Over South Africa

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigeria’s Super Falcons following their hard-fought 2–1 victory over South Africa in the semi-final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
In a statement released shortly after Tuesday’s match, Tinubu praised the team’s outstanding performance, calling the win “nothing short of superlative.”
“Well deserved! Congratulations to our Super Falcons! Your incredible #WAFCON2024 semi‑finals victory over South Africa today was nothing short of superlative,” Tinubu said.
“You have made the nation proud. Keep soaring. Don’t stop until you bring the trophy home. Go for our 10th title.”
The president urged the team to remain focused ahead of Saturday’s final, where they will face either Morocco or Ghana.
He added, “We are waiting to receive the cup.”
The Super Falcons are Africa’s most successful women’s team, having won nine of the last 12 WAFCON tournaments. After missing out in 2022, they now have a golden opportunity to reclaim the crown and secure a record-extending 10th title.
Fans across Nigeria and beyond have taken to social media to celebrate the victory and rally behind the team ahead of the final.
