Starlink, Elon Musk’s satellite internet provider, has announced a significant increase in subscription prices across Nigeria, effective immediately for new customers and from January 27, 2025, for existing users.

In an email to subscribers on Friday, the company attributed the price adjustments to its need to strengthen network infrastructure and maintain the high-quality service it promises customers.

Under the new pricing structure, subscribers will now pay ₦75,000 for the Standard (Residential) plan, ₦167,000 for the Mobile – Regional (Roam Unlimited) plan, and ₦717,000 for the Mobile – Global (Global Roam) plan.

“These changes reflect our commitment to investing in the infrastructure needed to support and improve your experience with Starlink,” the company stated in the communication.

Subscribers who find the new pricing unsustainable were offered the option to cancel their subscriptions at any time.

Since launching in Nigeria in December 2022, Starlink has been celebrated for providing internet access to remote and underserved communities, making Nigeria the first African country to receive its satellite-based services.
