Speed Darlington Reacts as NAPTIP Declares Him Wanted Over Alleged Offences

Controversial Nigerian music artist Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington or Akpi, has responded to being declared wanted by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), insisting the agency lacks the legal grounds to issue such a notice against him.
On Friday afternoon, NAPTIP posted a wanted notice on its official Instagram handle, @officialnaptip, accusing the singer of alleged offences including rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking.
The statement read:
“Darlington Okoye, aka Speed Darlington, is wanted in connection with alleged offences including rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking. Anyone with credible information on his whereabouts is urged to contact NAPTIP immediately.”
In response, Speed Darlington told Saturday Beats that he isn’t concerned about the agency’s move, stressing that his legal team is already handling the matter.
“Thanks for the heads up, but I’m not worried. They have no right to declare me wanted,” he said. “My lawyer has already sent it (the ‘wanted’ post) to me. They just want to embarrass themselves. My lawyer will handle it.”
NAPTIP’s declaration comes roughly a month after Speed Darlington failed to honour an invitation from the agency on May 30, 2025. The invitation was linked to his disturbing claim—made during a live Instagram session—where he allegedly admitted to having sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl.
According to the agency, the artist requested to reschedule the meeting for June 26, 2025, citing other engagements at the time. His failure to show up since then prompted NAPTIP to escalate the matter publicly.
