Sowore Alleges Buhari Died of Blood Cancer, UK Treatment Cost Nigeria £3,000 Per Night

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has made fresh claims regarding the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, alleging that he died of blood cancer and that the Nigerian government spent thousands of pounds daily on his medical care abroad.
In a post circulated on his social media platforms, Sowore claimed that the former president battled leukemia—a type of blood cancer—until his eventual demise, which he said occurred earlier today.
He further alleged that Nigeria incurred a treatment cost of £3,000 per night during Buhari’s extended medical stays in the United Kingdom.
“Buhari died of blood cancer—Leukemia! Nigeria was incurring a cost of £3,000 per night for his treatment until his demise today,” Sowore stated.
The presidency and relevant government agencies have yet to issue an official response to these claims at the time of filing this report.
During his tenure as President from 2015 to 2023, Buhari faced recurring health challenges that led to several prolonged medical visits to London, stirring controversy over transparency and healthcare spending.
Sowore, a critic of the Buhari administration, has often questioned the secrecy surrounding the former president’s health status and criticized the use of public funds for overseas medical treatments.
