Human rights activist and publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, has accused an officer of the Nigeria Police Force of stealing his AI-powered Ray-Ban sunglasses during the ongoing #PoliceProtest at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Sowore took to social media to share photos of the alleged officer, who was seen wearing a white shirt and dressed in mufti. According to him, the incident occurred during Monday’s protest organized to support retired police officers demanding reforms to the contributory pension scheme.

He wrote:
“CAUGHT ON CAMERA: This Nigeria Police Force officer, dressed in mufti, stole my AI Ray-Ban glasses at the Force headquarters during #PoliceProtest today. His superiors are shielding him. Please DM if you know his name and rank as soon as possible!”

The post has since gone viral, with many Nigerians demanding that the police identify the officer and address the accusation. Despite the public attention, the police have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.

Sowore’s claims add to growing concerns about police accountability and transparency, especially in the midst of a protest aimed at addressing systemic issues within the force.
