Southeast Students Urged to Take Advantage of President Tinubu’s Student Loan Scheme

Students across the Southeast region have been called upon to seize the opportunity presented by the federal government’s Tertiary Education Loan Fund (TELFUND), a landmark initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu aimed at making higher education more accessible and affordable for Nigerian youths.
The call was made in an official statement issued by Barrister Chioma Nweze, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (Southeast), encouraging students from Ebonyi, Enugu, Abia, Imo, and Anambra states not to allow financial hardship to derail their academic ambitions.
Describing the loan as “a doorway to your dreams”, Barr. Nweze emphasized that the initiative is free from political bias, fully digital in its application process, and structured in a way that repayment only begins after the beneficiary secures employment.
“Let no eligible student in the South East remain uninformed or left behind,” she said, stressing that the loan scheme is a lifeline for thousands of intelligent but financially challenged young people across the region.
Applicants are advised to visit the official portal at https://nelf.gov.ng to begin the process of registration and application.
In a passionate appeal, she called on community leaders, students’ associations, and educational institutions in the Southeast to spread awareness about the loan and mobilize eligible applicants.
“This is our time to rise. Education is power — and this administration is committed to empowering every corner of this nation, including our proud and industrious region,” she added.
The statement concluded with a rallying cry for unity, action, and a shared commitment to building a better future for the Southeast through education.
