Solomon Dalung Vows Tinubu Will Be Defeated in 2027, Even If Seyi Heads INEC

Former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalung, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be voted out of office in the 2027 general elections, regardless of who controls Nigeria’s electoral institutions.
Speaking during an interview on New Central, Dalung accused the Tinubu-led administration of “declaring war on Nigerians” by weaponizing poverty, hunger, and injustice. He warned that the All Progressives Congress (APC) government has failed the people and must be confronted at the polls.
“Nigerians should buckle up for 2027 because the battle line has been drawn,” Dalung said. “This government has popularised corruption, impunity, and injustice. It’s time for the people to reclaim their country.”
Dalung called on opposition leaders to unite under the newly formed coalition on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform, which is already positioning itself as a major political force ahead of the next election.
He also mocked any potential attempt to influence the electoral process, stating that even if President Tinubu appoints his own son as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), defeat is inevitable.
“Like I promised President Tinubu—even if all 36 governors defect to the APC, he appoints Seyi Tinubu as INEC Chairman, and his wife as Chief Justice, the people will still vote him out in 2027,” Dalung asserted.
The former minister urged Nigerians to resist political intimidation and begin mobilizing for what he described as a “rescue mission” to end APC’s grip on power.
