Shatta Wale Granted GH¢10 Million Bail Over Lamborghini Linked To $4M Crime

Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has granted dancehall artiste Shatta Wale bail of GH¢10 million with two sureties, Graphic Online reports. The singer remains in custody until the sureties provide verifiable properties meeting the bail conditions.
Shatta Wale was summoned on Wednesday to assist in investigations over a Lamborghini Urus linked to proceeds from a $4 million crime involving Ghanaian Nana Kwabena Amuah, currently serving a prison term in the United States. After nearly four hours of questioning, the artiste said he bought the vehicle from the “street” and could not identify the seller, aside from a possible contact named “ZAK” on WhatsApp.
EOCO stated that Shatta Wale could not produce receipts or transfer documents to prove ownership, except for a Customs declaration bearing Amuah’s name.
In June, EOCO, in collaboration with the FBI and the U.S. Justice Department, searched Shatta Wale’s Trassaco Valley home in Accra and seized the 2019 Lamborghini Urus allegedly tied to Amuah’s criminal proceeds. The seizure, carried out by EOCO’s Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit, followed a 2023 U.S. request under a mutual legal assistance agreement.
The operation was peaceful, and Shatta Wale was allowed to surrender the vehicle himself, citing concerns about public damage to his brand. U.S. authorities are seeking repatriation of the car as part of Amuah’s restitution of nearly $4.7 million.
EOCO noted that Shatta Wale and a former senior officer of Ghana’s National Signal Bureau are persons of interest and may face further questioning as the investigation continues.
