Sex Worker Dies in Akure Brothel, Three Arrested by Ondo Police

Three men have been arrested by operatives of the Ondo State Police Command following the death of a commercial sex worker at a brothel in Akure, the state capital.

The incident, which occurred over the weekend in the Cathedral area, reportedly began after one of the suspects demanded a refund of ₦15,000 from the deceased, claiming dissatisfaction with her service.

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Olayinka Ayanlade, the sex worker had allegedly expressed fatigue during the encounter, leading to a disagreement that quickly escalated into violence. The brothel manager and two other men—friends of the dissatisfied customer—were allegedly involved in the confrontation.

“At about 10 am on June 29, the manager of the brothel reported a violent altercation between a sex worker and a male client, which stemmed from the sex worker’s sudden complaint of weakness and inability to continue,” Ayanlade said.

Police officers responded swiftly to the distress call and arrested three suspects at the scene while the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital in the Lafe area. She was later referred to the Police Hospital in Akure, where she was confirmed dead on arrival.

Her body has been deposited at the State Specialist Hospital morgue for autopsy as investigations continue.
