Servicom Responsible For Corps Members’ Conduct On And Off Camp – Head Of Reforms

Corps members currently undergoing orientation at the Lagos NYSC camp have been cautioned to maintain proper conduct at all times, as SERVICOM holds the mandate to monitor their behaviour both within and outside the camp environment.
This was made known by Princess Maria Ajiboye, Head of Reforms and SERVICOM Officer, during an interactive session focused on educating corps members about the functions of SERVICOM within the NYSC framework.
According to her, SERVICOM is not only tasked with ensuring effective service delivery and corps members’ welfare, but also responsible for enforcing discipline and initiating corrective actions against defaulters. She stressed that any misconduct, whether on or off camp, could attract disciplinary measures in accordance with NYSC regulations.
Ajiboye urged corps members to align themselves with the four core programmes of the scheme—Orientation Course, Place of Primary Assignment (PPA), Community Development Service (CDS), and the Winding-Up and Passing Out Parade—while upholding NYSC values such as honesty, loyalty, and discipline in all their interactions.
To further reinforce her message, she demonstrated examples of appropriate and inappropriate dress codes, stressing that appearance also reflects the image of the NYSC.
She concluded by listing key behavioural guidelines to prevent service failure: avoiding night journeys, maintaining orderliness, using respectful language, shunning loitering and illegal substances, and steering clear of unlawful associations.
