Senator Oluremi Tinubu Urges Politicians to Prioritize People Over Party

The wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on politicians to put the welfare of the electorate above party loyalty in their official duties.
Speaking on Friday at a stakeholders’ meeting in Lagos, organized under her Renewed Hope Initiative, Remi stressed that public service should be guided by commitment to the people rather than allegiance to political platforms.
“Once we win an election, people should put party aside and let’s run the government. The government involves people and through the grace of God, the Renewed Hope Initiative will be able to change the mindset of opposition states. We are all working together to make sure that this programme reaches the grassroots,” she said.
The event, attended by lawmakers, political leaders, traditional rulers, and religious leaders, focused on enhancing grassroots engagement and fostering unity. Senator Tinubu pledged to collaborate with all stakeholders and consider the requests presented during the meeting.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in his welcome address, highlighted the significance of engaging traditional and religious leaders, describing them as critical stakeholders in governance. He noted that the visit coincided with the ongoing Isese Week, a celebration of Yoruba culture, and praised the support of religious and traditional institutions in the state.
The Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, speaking for other traditional rulers, commended Senator Tinubu for her impactful initiatives and presented requests on behalf of the monarchs, including constitutional recognition for traditional rulers, youth empowerment, girl-child education, leadership training, and improved welfare.
