SDP Suspends National Chairman Shehu Gabam Over Alleged Financial Misconduct

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has announced the suspension of its National Chairman, Shehu Musa Gabam, over allegations of gross financial misconduct.
Two other top officials—Nze Nnadi Clarkson, the party’s National Auditor, and Uchechukwu Chukwuma, the National Youth Leader—were also suspended.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the party’s spokesperson, Araba Rufus Aiyenigba.
According to the NWC, the suspension of all three members takes immediate effect.
“In exercise of its exclusive powers as guaranteed in Article 19.1, 19.3(i), and 19.5 of the Party Constitution (2022 as amended), the National Working Committee of the Social Democratic Party has approved the immediate suspension of the National Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, along with Nze Nnadi Clarkson and Uchechukwu Chukwuma, over grave allegations of gross financial misconduct, embezzlement, misappropriation, and diversion of party funds,” the statement read.
The party said the decision was reached after a resolution of the NWC following the presentation of what it described as overwhelming evidence linking the suspended officials to unauthorized financial transactions, personal enrichment schemes, and illegal movement of party funds.
The suspension comes just hours after protesters stormed the SDP National Secretariat in Abuja and reportedly pulled down its main gate, as earlier reported by DAILY POST.
