Sanwo-Olu Urges 2,329 Corps Members in Lagos to Uphold Discipline, Purpose

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on 2,329 corps members deployed to the state for the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Orientation course to approach their national assignment with discipline, diligence, and a strong sense of purpose.
The governor delivered the charge on Friday at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Iyana Ipaja during the formal opening and swearing-in ceremony. He was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu.
Mr Sanwo-Olu said the orientation programme provides a foundation not only for the service year but also for life after NYSC, urging corps members to take full advantage of the training and capacity-building activities offered.
Providing a breakdown of the deployment, the Lagos State Coordinator of the NYSC, Christiana Salmwang, said 2,329 corps members — comprising 979 males and 1,350 females — reported to the Lagos camp out of a total of 5,005 posted to the state. The rest, she said, were redeployed to neighboring states due to limited space at the camp.
Mrs. Salmwang said the corps members had so far demonstrated commendable enthusiasm and discipline since their arrival on 30 July.
The oath of allegiance was administered by Justice Mosunmola Balogun, representing the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba. The event was attended by senior government officials, NYSC management personnel, and representatives of security agencies.
Governor Sanwo-Olu formally declared the orientation course open and commended all stakeholders for their continued support of the NYSC scheme in Lagos.
