Sanwo-Olu Charges 5,943 Corps Members to Accept Postings, Contribute to Development

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged 5,943 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) comprising 2,538 males and 3,405 females deployed to Lagos to accept their postings and contribute to the socio-economic development of the state and Nigeria at large. 

The Governor, who was represented by Honourable Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende, Commissioner of Youth and Social Development, made this call during the closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream I NYSC orientation course held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja, Agege, Lagos.

According to Governor Sanwo-Olu, “I implore you to accept your posting to any part of the State and see it as a challenge to contribute to the overall socio-economic and political development of not only Lagos State but Nigeria at large.”

He expressed confidence that the training received during the orientation course would guide the corps members throughout their service year.

The Governor also emphasized the importance of the corps members impacting their host communities positively, aligning with the NYSC’s Community Development Service program. 

He assured the corps members of the state government’s commitment to their welfare and security, working closely with security operatives to ensure their safety.

Governor Sanwo-Olu encouraged the corps members to sustain their interest in skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development, empowering themselves for self-employment in view of limited job opportunities. 

He also reminded them of the NYSC’s major objective of fostering national unity and integration, urging them to take their host communities as home and contribute to their development.

In a similar vein, Mrs. Salmwang, the NYSC State Coordinator, congratulated the corps members on their successful completion of the orientation course. 

She encouraged them to utilize the skills and knowledge acquired during the programme to improve the lives of the people and communities they have been posted to serve.

“Serve with dedication and commitment,” Mrs. Salmwang urged the corps members. 

“Utilize the skills and knowledge acquired during the programme to improve the lives of the people and communities you have been posted to serve. Respect the cultural values of your host communities and live in harmony with the people.”

The State Coordinator also appealed to employers to provide adequate welfare facilities for the corps members, enabling them to give their best and contribute to the development and growth of the state.
