Salmwang Urges NYSC Lagos PCMs to Embrace Discipline, Unity, and Purposeful Service

The Lagos State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Christiana Salmwang, has charged Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) of the 2025 Batch “B” Stream I to uphold discipline, promote unity, and engage purposefully as they begin their national service journey.
Addressing the PCMs during a formal briefing at the orientation camp in Iyana-Ipaja, Salmwang reiterated the core objectives of the NYSC scheme, particularly its commitment to national integration. She explained that the service year is structured into four critical stages—Orientation, Primary Assignment, Community Development Service (CDS), and the Passing-Out Parade (POP)—each designed to foster responsible citizenship and leadership.

She urged the PCMs to strictly adhere to camp rules, remain security conscious, and distance themselves from drugs, cultism, and all forms of social misconduct. She further emphasized that active participation in the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme is vital for developing self-reliance beyond the service year.
Salmwang informed the PCMs that they are covered under the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), which provides access to basic healthcare services throughout their service period. She encouraged them to take advantage of the medical support available at the camp.
She also advised them to use social media responsibly, stressing the importance of preserving the integrity and image of the NYSC scheme.
The orientation exercise continues with lectures, drills, and capacity-building sessions aimed at equipping the PCMs for a meaningful and impactful service year.
