Salmwang Calls for Synergy Among NYSC Officials

As the 2024 Batch “C” Stream II Orientation Course begins tomorrow, the Lagos State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Scheme (NYSC), Mrs. Christiana Salmwang, has called for synergy among camp officials to ensure a successful exercise.
Mrs. Salmwang made this call during the first camp meeting for the course at the NYSC Lagos Orientation Camp, Iyana-Ipaja, today, 22nd of January, 2025. She applauded past successes and urged officials to aim for better results this time.
She preached the need for teamwork, stating that all agencies and officials must work together towards the success of the course. She warned that disunity could negatively affect the program.
Mrs. Salmwang advised officials to be kind and empathetic towards corps members as they arrive, stressing that a warm reception creates a lasting impression. She went further by urging them to avoid harsh treatment of corps members.

Addressing officials on managing corps members, she acknowledged the job’s pressures but encouraged patience. She advised against corporal punishment, foul language, and physical assault in handling corps members.
On discipline, she stated that officials must lead by example. She warned against over-socialization with corps members, explaining that it could weaken their authority and affect discipline.
Mrs. Salmwang also mentioned the importance of mental health, reminding officials that drug use within the camp is strictly prohibited and must be addressed promptly.
With respect to course guidelines, the Camp Director, Mrs. Grace Oso, advised officials to wear name tags for easy identification. She went on by announcing the importance of attending all camp activities.

Meanwhile, the Camp Commandant, Captain Mohammed Mohammed, expressed his commitment to success. He urged officials to work diligently to ensure the course achieves its objectives.
Other attendees at the meeting included the Resident Officer, Mrs. Ogunfunwa Olayinka, and NYSC representatives, Mr. Adekunle Suleiman and Mrs. Chinyere Uzoigwe. They all pledged their support to the success of the course.
