Retired DG Tasks Corps Members On Setting Clear Goals

A retired Deputy Director of the NYSC,Mr Lanre Ologun has tasked Corps Members to set clear goals they want to achieve during the service year.
He noted that having a set goal encourages one to be focused. He gave the charge while delivering a motivational lecture to the 2024 Batch B stream II corps members at the Lagos Camp.

Earlier in his lecture, Ologun highlighted the purpose behind the establishment of the NYSC in 1973 – to heal the distrust between ethnic groups following the Nigerian civil war.
He emphasized on the aim of the Scheme to inculcate discipline, raise the moral tone, develop a spirit of self-reliance among Nigerian youths and ultimately contributing to national cohesion and development.
The retired Deputy Director who shared his valuable insights with the corps members urged them to actively participate in all camp programs and apply themselves diligently to the training and opportunities presented during the service year.

Mr. Ologun stressed the importance of obeying NYSC rules and regulations as well as familiarizing themselves with the bye-laws. Drawing from his own experience, the retired NYSC official narrated how he missed an opportunity to be posted to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) due to tardiness. He therefore encouraged the corps members to always report to their Places of Primary Assignment (PPA) on time, underscoring the value of punctuality and commitment throughout their service year.
He further challenged the corps members to make good use of their service year and catch in on any opportunity that can add value to their lives. He equally advised them to equip themselves with relevant skills so as to be self-reliant and contribute to the development of the nation.
In conclusion, the insights shared by Mr. Lanre Ologun, a seasoned NYSC veteran, provided valuable guidance to the corps members in Lagos, empowering them to make the most of their service year and contribute to the nation’s development
