Reps Appeal To Tinubu To Release Nnamdi Kanu

The House of Representatives Committee on the South East Development Commission (SEDC) has joined other well meaning Nigerians in appealing to president Bola Tinubu to facilitate the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra , Nnamdi Kanu.
The Chairman of the SEDC , Mr Chris Nkwonta made the appeal at the inaugural meeting of the Committee in Abuja.
Mr Nkwonta believed strongly that the alarming state of insecurity in South East zone would be reduced and development efforts accelerated, if Kanu is released.
He commended President Tinubu for signing the bill establishing the Commission into law, describing it as a landmark achievement by the present administration, coming 54 years after the civil war.
Inaugurating the South East Development Commission Committee, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas said the exercise was the beginning of a renewed effort to unlock the full potential of the Southeast.
Mr Abbas who was represented by the Deputy Speaker , Benjamin Kalu ,charged members of the committee to be diligent and patriotic in carrying out their duties.
The SEDC is established to bridge developmental gaps in the Southeast in line with the federal government’s Reintegration, Reconstruction and Reconciliation initiative aimed at healing past wounds.
