Renovation Begins at NYSC Lagos Orientation Camp

Renovation works have officially commenced at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Iyana Ipaja, Lagos, following the swift approval of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to a renovation request from the NYSC Lagos State Secretariat.
In response to an appeal letter highlighting the deteriorating condition of the camp’s facilities, Governor Sanwo-Olu — widely recognized as a youth-friendly leader — promptly authorized immediate action to restore the camp to a habitable and safe standard.
An inspection visit on Thursday, 22nd May 2025, led by the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, alongside the NYSC Lagos State Coordinator, Mrs. Christiana Salmwang, confirmed that renovation activities are already in full swing. Notably, the aluminum roofing sheets of the main youth hostel have been completely removed in preparation for structural repairs.

According to the contractor on site, critical plumbing work and major structural refurbishments will be completed ahead of the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Orientation Course. The full-scale renovation of the camp is expected to be concluded immediately after the orientation exercise.
This intervention reflects the Lagos State Government’s proactive approach to youth development and its unwavering commitment to the welfare of Corps Members.
The NYSC Lagos State Secretariat expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Governor and the State Government for their prompt and impactful response, and looks forward to the successful completion of the much-needed renovation project.
