Reno Omokri Launches ₦20 Million Challenge Over Peter Obi’s Power Record

Political commentator and author, Reno Omokri, has announced a ₦20 million giveaway challenge aimed at scrutinizing the infrastructure record of former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi.
In a statement posted on social media, Omokri questioned Obi’s track record in power infrastructure during his tenure as governor, challenging the public to name a single Independent Power Project (IPP) that Obi initiated, executed, and completed without federal government support.
“Please name even one IPP initiated, started, and completed by Peter Obi when he was Governor of Anambra without the help of the Federal Government. Name it and get paid twenty million Naira,” Omokri declared.
He contrasted Obi’s legacy with that of President Bola Tinubu and his successor as Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, whom he credited with initiating and completing several power projects, including the Alausa (10.4 MW), Akute (12.55 MW), Lagos Island 1 & 2 (10 MW), Mainland (8.8 MW), Lekki Peninsula (6 MW), and Island IPP in Marina (10 MW).
Omokri, a known critic of the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, described the challenge as a fact-based debate, urging participants to respond without insults. “No insult. Just name and win,” he added.
He concluded the post with a swipe at Obi’s promises to solve Nigeria’s power problems, saying, “And yet, a man who could not build one IPP in eight years is telling Nigerians that he will solve their power challenge in two years. No be Gadus be that?”
Reno Omokri is a former presidential aide and a prolific social media influencer known for his bold political commentary, often sparking debate across party lines.
