Ralph Nwosu Says He Rejected Three Ministerial Offers To Stop ADC Coalition Move

Former National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ralph Nwosu, has revealed that he was offered three ministerial slots in a bid to stop him from transforming the ADC into a formidable opposition coalition.
Speaking at the ADC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Tuesday, Nwosu said:
“Some people tried to discourage us with promises of automatic ministerial appointments. They wanted to give me three slots—one for myself and two for people I choose. But I said no. I chose a democratic future for Nigeria.”
He described the offer as part of a larger plan to create a one-party state, warning, “Nigeria cannot be a one-party state after all we did to remove the military from governance.”
The meeting marked the official handover of party leadership to former Senate President David Mark, with ex-Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola named as the new National Secretary.
Nwosu confirmed that ADC had officially transitioned into the Coalition Party on July 2, with the process witnessed by seven officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He also disclosed that the party’s membership surged to over three million within two weeks of the coalition’s announcement, boasting 28 senators and more than 60 House of Representatives members.
“We were worried about the declining fortunes of our democracy,” Nwosu added, “but we insist on this coalition for the best interest of Nigeria.”
