NYSC Director Charges Lagos Officials To Sanitize The Scheme

NYSC South-West Area Office Acting Director, Mrs Abiodun Olubukola has today told NYSC Lagos State officials at the NYSC Lagos State Secretariat, Surulere, to protect, and sanitize the scheme, stating that that is where they earn their living.

Mrs Abiodun stated this while paying a working visit to the State Secretariat which is one of the State Secretariats under her jurisdiction.
According to the NYSC Acting Director, she said, “this is the place you earn your living, you must protect the place, you must sanitize it, and make it robust.”
Mrs Abiodun while appreciating the Secretariat for the recent commendation it got from the Director-General for how it welcomes and attends to corps members at the Orientation Camp, urged members of staff to exhibit integrity and discipline, and that it is when they do this that they can provide guidance to corps members assigned to them.

While decrying the decay in our education system and the accompanying degradation in parenting, she encouraged members of staff to correct corps members with love, and serve as a mentor to them. She emphasized that whatever is done to the corps members goes a long way and hardly ever got forgotten, “therefore, be proactive at your duty post, do away with activities and attitudes that are inimical to the scheme or bring its image to disrepute.”

She also added that given the age we are, young persons have strayed from the right attitude and behaviour expected of them not because some of them are deliberate about it but because they lack the training Ab Initio, she enjoined members of staff to see to it that corps members posted to them are well mentored.
The Acting Director while also speaking on work relationship, enjoined members of staff to work with one another harmoniously and resolve differences when they arise.
Earlier, while briefing the Acting Director, State Coordinator NYSC Lagos, Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa appreciated the management of NYSC for the support given to the Secretariat in achieving its goals and also for the recent commendation given to the Secretariat by the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General YD Ahmed.
She welcomed the Acting Director for deeming it necessary to visit the State Secretariat. As part of the working visit today, the Acting Director was conducted around the State Secretariat and also commissioned the newly refurbished Secretariat Clinic which is meant for use by officials and corps members at the Secretariat.
Also, the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development(SAED) also had a mini exhibition, with corps trainees and their trainers on ground to display their wares at the State Secretariat.
