President Tinubu Presides Over FEC Meeting to Decide on Renewed Hope Infrastructure Fund

President Bola Tinubu is currently chairing the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.

During today’s meeting, the council will vote on a memorandum for the approval of the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Fund revamp.

The following high-ranking officials are present at the meeting: Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) George Akume, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, and Chief of Staff to the President Hon Femi Gbajabiamila.

Absent are the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; and Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Geidam.

President Tinubu inaugurated the FEC on August 28, 2023, officially moving meetings from the customary Wednesdays to Mondays.

Article 144 (5) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) recognises the “Executive Council of the Federation” (the Federal Executive Council) as the “body of Ministers of the Government of the Federation, called, established by the President and charged with such responsibilities for the functions of government as the President may direct.”

Since its inauguration, the Tinubu-led cabinet has only met 10 times in 31 weeks.

Mohammed Idris, the Information Minister, explained on October 16, 2023, that the council would convene only when there are memoranda to consider..
