Polytechnic Workers Issue 21-Day Strike Notice

Apart from the tension created by strike threats by the academic staff union of universities, ASUU, the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics, SSANIP has issued a 21-day notice of strike to the government.
In communique at the end of its meeting in Kano, SSANIP National President, Adebanjo Ogunsipe and National Secretary, Shehu Gaya, said it reviewed its activities with government on the release of the new schemes and conditions of service, the Constitution of the renegotiation of 2010 agreement committee and Non-release of the 2023, 2024, 2025 NEEDS Assessment fund.
SSANIP said it also reviewed the payment of arrears such as promotion arrears, 25/35% salary review arrears, wage award and full implementation of new minimum wage;
The Communique said after exhausting its patience on the above items, it observed with great displeasure the insincerity of the government in keeping to previous agreements or prioritising the education sector.
SSANIP said it also observed that despite several efforts to ensure peaceful resolution of the above stated demands, the government has only paid lip service to the issues.
The polytechnics senior staff association said, based on the dissatisfaction with the government, the Union demands immediate action on the listed issues within twenty-one days beginning from August 27, 2025, or we will be left with no option than to withdraw its services across the Nation.
