Police Reunites 35 Rescued Kidnapped Victims with Their Families in Niger State

Niger State Police command says it has successfully reunited the recently rescued thirty-five kidnapped victims with their families, having spent a few weeks in Police protective custody and dissuading their minds from the hoodlums.
In a statement by the spokesman of the Police, Superintendent Wasi’u Abiodun, the victims, who consist of sixteen women and nineteen children, were from Kagara, Tegina and Agwara.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Elleman, who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Investigation DCP Ibrahim Adamu released the victims and handed them over to the chairman of Rafi local government area, Ayuba Katako.
During the brief handing over occasion, CP Elleman noted that the victims were reunited with their families, as they had been under Police protective custody with necessary support and care from the State Government.
He added that this started on July 3 when information was received from a credible source stating that the victims were relocating from Birnin-Gwari to other areas.
Police operatives swung into action and the first batch was intercepted in Agwara during an attempt to cross the river to other villages of New-Bussa, and five women and six children were rescued.
During interrogation, it was gathered that the terrorists were relocating from Birnin-Gwari to other areas, and the Police tactical team stationed at the Mekujeri-Tegina road intercepted the second batch with four women and seven children, while another batch was also intercepted with a driver transporting them away.
Investigation further revealed that the driver, Yusuf Abdullahi of Birnin-Gwari, went to their camp to convey the victims, and he is under investigation in the SCID to ascertain his collaboration in their activities.
