Police Rescue 31 Kidnap Victims in Taraba And Edo States

In a major breakthrough against banditry and kidnapping, the Nigeria Police Force has successfully rescued 31 victims in two separate operations conducted in Edo and Taraba States.
According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the operations were carried out on July 11 and 12, 2025, following actionable intelligence and rapid response efforts by tactical police units.
In Edo State, operatives rescued 14 abducted individuals along the Fugar-Agenebode Road in Etsako East Local Government Area after engaging the kidnappers in a fierce gun battle near the Obe Hill axis. The victims were safely recovered and reunited with their families.
Similarly, in Taraba State, police officers responded swiftly to a distress call on the Wukari highway, where 17 passengers en route from Enugu to Yola had been kidnapped. The kidnappers reportedly abandoned their victims and fled upon sighting advancing police teams.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, lauded the courage and professionalism of the officers involved in both operations. He reaffirmed the Force’s unwavering commitment to eradicating criminal networks and ensuring public safety across the country.
The Force urged citizens to continue supporting police efforts by providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing security operations.
