Police Foil Kidnapping Operations in Enugu and Ogun

The Nigeria Police Force has recorded major operational successes in Enugu and Ogun States, neutralising armed suspects, arresting key members of kidnap gangs, and rescuing victims unharmed in a renewed push against violent crime.
In a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the breakthroughs were achieved between July 16 and July 20, 2025, through intelligence-led and technology-driven operations. In Enugu, police operatives foiled a kidnap attempt, rescuing the victim unhurt and neutralising one of the suspects. A notorious kidnap kingpin, Aliyu Adamu, was arrested, while an AK-47 rifle was recovered from the scene. Two female suspects were also taken into custody while allegedly sharing ₦10 million in ransom money—part of a ₦50 million demand made to the victim’s own relative.
In Ogun State, operatives rescued three kidnap victims unhurt and neutralised two suspects. Items recovered from the scene included an AK-47 rifle, 139 rounds of live ammunition, ₦1.2 million in ransom, mobile phones, and chains used to restrain the victims.
Commending the officers involved in both operations, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised their bravery and reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to intelligence-led and technology-driven policing. “The Nigeria Police Force is committed to technology-driven and intelligence-led policing to dismantle criminal networks and ensure the safety of all Nigerians,” he said.
The IGP further noted that ongoing police reforms are aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and securing communities across the country.
